Environmental Radiation Monitoring

The Power Station has a comprehensive environmental monitoring programme to safeguard the health of its staff, the surrounding environment, and the general public, including a robust monitoring system to continuously measure the radiation in the environment with monitoring instruments located both within the nuclear power station and at about 5 km from the power station at Bagang, Lingao, Yangmeikeng, Shuitou and Dapeng.

* Data collected from five outdoor monitoring stations that are operated continuously and located within the nuclear power station.

Values before operation*

Ambient Activity Underground Water: Beta Activity (except Tritium) Underground Water: Tritium in Drinking Water Total Activity in the Air
0.1 to 0.2 μGy/h 0.1 to 0.6 Bq/l 1.5 to 6.1 Bq/l 0.4 to 9.3 mBq/m³

* Radiation levels are related to seasonal and meteorological conditions such as wind direction, wind speed and rainfall. The figures will fluctuate as a normal phenomenon.
