Fuel cycle in Brief

The activities related to the use of nuclear fuel for power generation collectively make up the nuclear fuel cycle. This cycle starts with the mining of uranium and ends with the disposal of nuclear waste. With the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel, these activities form a truly complete cycle.

The nuclear fuel cycle consists of the following activities:
  1. Mining and Milling
  2. Conversion
  3. Enrichment
  4. Fabrication
  5. Power generation
  6. Spent fuel storage
  7. Spent fuel reprocessing and disposal
